Meet the Founder of Engage Care Partners

Updated: Apr 7

Engage Care Partners is a small company serving Greater Birmingham and Shelby County in Alabama, founded by Brooklyn White.

Perhaps nothing has equipped Brooklyn more for this role than being the caregiver of her own father for nearly a decade who was impacted by both Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia. After much discernment, Brooklyn has realized that her personal mission is to make an impact for other caregivers on this journey. She has dedicated herself to building programs and plans that are research-based and result-driven to deliver quality, person-centered care with integrity from diagnosis through end of life - as a Certified Caregiver and Certified Death Doula.

Brooklyn's journey began when she decided to document her father's own journey with Parkinson's and Dementia. The result is a book that will be published in 2022, called Sunsets and Silver Linings: Caregiving for Parents with Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia, a Daughter's Perspective. Her goal in writing this book was to help others on this journey navigate the many challenges that come financially and legally - but most importantly practically and spiritually. "If I can help one person with one of our A-HA moments, lessons learned the hard way, or just encourage others on the journey, the emotion and hard work was worth this investment," says Brooklyn. The book became available in February of 2022.

The journey of writing the book inspired Brooklyn to carefully consider how she could take her own career and pivot it toward the greater good to help others on the journey. As a result, Engage Care Partners was born. Brooklyn recently obtained her Certified Caregiver Training Certificate from Caregiver University as well as her Death Doula Certificate from IAP. She has also been certified as a Lewy Buddy from the Lewy Body Dementia Association to provide volunteer support services.

Prior to launching Engage Care Partners, Brooklyn White received her Bachelor of Arts in Writing and Communications with a Minor in Graphic Design from Maryville College. Over the last 20+ years, Brooklyn has applied her degrees to various marketing and communications roles for healthcare, financial software, home building and engineering firms.

Finally, Brooklyn has married her creative writing and design talents to help families build and implement lasting legacies - from Life Books and biographies to slide shows and videos, Brooklyn brings her creative spirit to helping anyone build and document their legacies in substantial and high-quality materials for future generations to enjoy and treasure.
